May Fundraiser - Our volunteers' story
After much conversation, doubts and a few laughs with family members, our families decided to answer the fathers call and volunteer to fundraise in gratitude to God for our hardworking Priests who have done so much for our families personally, as well as for the chaplaincy.
First thing that came to mind was looking for a feast day of our Lady in 2024 to have this fundraiser. Funnily enough, Mother's day popped up, but seeing it was on the day before the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima (May 13) it was even more fitting for our family - it was through reading the story of Our Lady of Fatima among other stories of the saints, that helped lead us to the Latin Mass! Deo Gratias!
The fundraiser was based solely around our Lady, we are indebted to her for her motherly and tender care, May - the month of our Regina Caeli! And so we wanted to turn the secular Mother's day into a Catholic Mother's Day! Mother's day was indeed a beautiful family oriented event! It was so joyful seeing lots of smiles and happy faces! We give thanks to God for the warm hearted people who came to support a wonderful cause, from the Mothers day raffle and donations given, to the gift sale fundraiser!
Special thanks to Mr and Mrs Bowden for the beautifully homemade Pompallier Guava jams, and to Mrs Scheib for her assistance. Thank you also to team members Christian Malietoa-Brown, and to Peter Yung for putting up with us "young ladies" over the last few Sundays. (*Peter is absent in the team photo) May God reward you all for your charity.
Lastly, many thanks to Fr Sumich and Fr Pospischil for helping us make this Mother's day a special onefor everyone in our chaplaincy! God willing, we will see more families and communities feel inspired to want to fundraise for this beautiful Pilgrimage! It was a great family experience and now a beautiful family treasured memory! We hope everyone had a blessed Mother's day, and may we all continue to pray for a holy and successful 'Footsteps of Pompallier Pilgrimage"!
Ave Maria & God bless
